Weekly Announcements

  • Order your yearbook online!
Progress Reports need to go home on Thursday, March 5th.
Beginning, Tuesday, February 17, students will not be permitted to check-out after 2:00. When a student checks out early, it is a major disruption of learning for the student and  the instruction of the entire class. In addition, early checkout after 2:00 can be a safety issue and disrupt normal dismissal procedures.  Students should only check out early or late due to a medical appointments or emergency situations. In addition, if your child must check out early for an appointment, please be sure to send a note to your child’s teacher, on the day they are checking out, indicating the time and reason for early checkout.  If you child arrives late to school, an adult must come in the building with the student to sign in the student in the main office. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.
    • With winter upon us, we remind students to dress appropriately for the weather. If the temperature is below 50 degrees, every child must wear a coat that zips, mittens and/or hat and proper shoes.

A special message from our school Nurse…

    • Colds and viruses are an unwelcome visitor to many of us.  To prevent the spread of illnesses follow these simple rules;  wash hands often,  cover cough and sneezes, get plenty of sleep and eat healthy foods which include fruits and vegetables.  Children should be kept home for fever 100 degrees or more, unexplained skin rash, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours.  Children may be highly contagious when they have a fever so please do not give your child fever reducing medicine and then send them to school. Students may return to school when they are without fever, vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.  The ABSS School Nurses are tracking the number of flu cases in our schools, please notify the school if your child has tested positive for flu.

  • Military Connected Student Information
Parents and guardians, if you have a student in your household who has an immediate family member connected with the U. S. military, please take a few minutes to complete a short form. This includes family members serving on active duty, in the National Guard and Reserves, Retired Military, Disabled Veterans or Civil Service Employees. The information on the short survey form is being collected on behalf of the North Carolina General Assembly to ensure that the unique needs of military-connected students are met. We would appreciate your participation.
