BURLINGTON, N.C. -- School and Saturday are not two words that normally go together, but some Burlington teachers are making sure it works! Teachers and staff at Grove Park Elementary visited the Tucker Street Home neighborhood in Burlington Saturday as part of their initiative to help promote reading. The group created the Family Engagement Council and plan to have 3 or 4 similar events in different neighborhoods throughout the remainder of the school year. The teachers read to students Saturday and talked with families about how they can use these literacy skills to help improve their school performance.
