Pre-K Program Enrollment
Children who will be 4 years old on or before August 31, 2014 may be eligible to register for Pre-Kindergarten classes for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year. Pre-K programs target at-risk four year olds who may not be ready to enter Kindergarten due to certain risk factors, including: low income, health-related conditions, developmental delays, and English as a second language.
Parents are encouraged to complete and submit an application, along with required documents as listed on the application form, for a review of their child’s eligibility. Applications are available at the Alamance-Burlington school district’s administrative office at 1712 Vaughn Road in Burlington, at any Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) elementary school, at the Ray Street Academy at 609 Ray Street in Graham, or on the ABSS website: www.abss.k12.nc.us. In addition, applications are available at the Alamance Partnership for Children office at 2322 River Road in Burlington, or at any Head Start location in Alamance County. Free Workshop on Autism
The Alamance-Burlington Schools district-wide Autism Team is holding a free workshop for parents and professionals of children and young adults with autism. On Tuesday, October 13 at 5:30 pm, the Alamance-Burlington Exceptional Children’s program will host Ann Palmer, a parent of a young adult with autism and the author of Realizing the College Dream with Autism or Asperger Syndrome. The event is open to the community and will be held in the professional library at the Alamance-Burlington Schools administrative office at 1712 Vaughn Road in Burlington.
