Graham High School is a comprehensive, four-year high school serving the city of Graham. It is one of six traditional high schools in the Alamance-Burlington School System. Graham High School is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction. Student enrollment in grades 9 – 12 is approximately 840.

 

Information: The city of Graham is the county seat of Alamance County, which is located in the North Carolina Piedmont area between the Triad (Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem) and the Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill). Interstates 85 and 40 pass inside the corporate limits. The city has an approximate population of 14,865.

Course Credit:                 Graham High School operates on a block schedule divided into two (2) eighteen (18) week semesters with two (2) reporting periods each semester. Students take four (4) courses per semester for ninety (90) minutes daily. Report cards are distributed at the end of each nine week grading period.

 **Prior to the 2015 - 2016 School year grades were based on a 7 point grading scale. 

The following values are assigned to the grading system effective school year 2015-2016:

For college admission purposes, the student’s rank in class will be computed at the end of the 11th grade and after the 4th nine weeks of the 12th grade. Grades earned in the summer programs, other than ABSS sponsored summer school, are not included in the calculation of class rank. Rank is determined by using a weighted quality point average, based on a 4.0 grading scale.

 

AP Courses      Offered online through the North Carolina Virtual Public School and at Graham High School. AP Courses that are offered at Graham High School are English Literature, English Language, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Environmental Science; Chemistry, Biology, US History, and Psychology.

 

Honors                English, Math 2, Math 3, Pre- Calculus, Discrete Math, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology; American History;

                     Third level and above foreign language, Dance, Chorus, Band, Theatre, and Art. 
Courses           World History, Civics, American History 1, American History 2, Turning Points in History,
                       third level and above Foreign Languages, Dance, Chorus, Band, Theatre, and Art. 

 

Dual                      Include North Carolina University System transfer courses and Alamance Community

Enrollment          College.
