6th, 7th, and 8th grade STEM (science, technology, egineering and math) encore
See what's going on in class!
Welcome to Mr. Pasion's STEM Class! It will be a pleasure getting to know you this year as we set forth on our journey about science, technology, engineering and math. The topics we cover are varied and we will be discussing topics this year that will affect you throughout your life. The biggest goal of the class is to get you to think, problem solve, imagine and create!
This will be my fourth year teaching at Graham Middle School. Previously, I taught 8th grade science. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology. While attaining my undergraduate degree I focused on marine and conservation ecology. While at UNC I found that I loved to educate others about the natural world and the interconnectedness of life. I enrolled in the UNC-BEST(Baccalaureate of Education in Science Teaching) program that allowed me to graduate UNC with a degree in science and license to teach all sciences in middle and high schools. This year at Graham Middle School I will serve as the encore chairperson, science department chairperson and STEM coordinator.
This school year I will be "flipping" my classroom. Which means that students will be doing classwork at home and homework in the classroom. One of the biggest parts of flipping the classroom is watching video lectures on your own time. To get a brief overview see below:
And from a student's perspective:
I recently took a trip to Washington State. View the videos below for some cool science that I saw on the trip!
