    The last day of workouts is Thursday, May 23. See Coach Lynch for time to attend. Girls interested in playing in Summer League or attending camp in June should sign up on the bulletin board in the gym lobby or see Coach Lynch.

  • DREAM Team

    Applications are available at Mrs. Smith's Classroom, E5. Applicants must be a rising junior or senior, be a member of a varsity team next school year and have a 3.0 unweighted GPA. Applications are due by May 31st. See Mrs. Smith with any questions.

  • Dodgeball Tournament

    A Dodgeball Tournament will be held Thursday, May 30. The cost is $18 per team or $24 per team the day of the tournament. Spectators can watch for $2 per person. All money raised will be donated to the bombing victims in Boston.

  • Senior Fines

    Seniors should check the Senior Fines List on the Media Center door to see if fines are owed to the school. Seniors will NOT be allowed to walk across the stage for graduation if fines are NOT cleared. See Ms. Fogleman in Room B-4 with any questions about senior fines.

  • North Carolina A&T State University
    A&T is offering a summer camp for rising 12th grade students who have a least a 2.8 GPA.  This program features SAT prep courses, workshops in test-taking skills and college applications, and academic and career planning.  Students stay on campus with all meals and acitivities included.  The program is free; however, if a student is accepted to attend the camp, there is a $100 application fee.  The camp runs from July 14-16.  Students should see Mrs. Carter in Student Services if they have any questions or would like more information on how to apply.

  • Appalachian State Forensic Science Camp
    The camp is designed for students in grades 9-12 with an interest in the laboratory analysis of crime scene evidence.  Participants must have either their science teacher or counselor email a recommendation for this camp.  Early registration of $484 is due by March 31; after that time, regular registration of $509 will apply.  See a guidance counselor for additional information.

  • Exceptional Children's Department
    This month we would like to celebrate the Exceptional Children's Department and all clubs. Today we'd like to showcase Mrs. Shannon Lynch and Mrs. Erin Rodriguez.
     
    Mrs. Lynch is an EC Teacher's Assistant, FCA Advisor and Girls' Basketball coach.  She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Design from Appalachian State and a minor in Media Communications.  She as been married for 18 years to her wonderful and supportive husband Bret, and they have two children.  Sarah is a junior at SAHS and MK is a 5th grader at E.M. Holt.  Outside of school, Mrs. Lynch runs a freelance graphic design business designing logos, brochures, T-shirts and other marketing and design materials.  She enjoys being a competitive person and loves coaching girls' basketball and participating in practice to make her players compete harder.  She enjoys helping out at Southern's cross country and track meets, cheering on her daughter, Sarah, and cheering for her son, MK at his basketball and baseball games.  Mrs. Lynch's bucket list includes going skydiving at least once, going to Rome and Paris to see the art she studied in college, seeing one or both of her children compete in college sports, going to Australia to see her family friend play professional basketball, going on a shopping spree at Nike Town in London, owning a 1967 Eleanor Mustang and attending the Ford Mustang Racing School.
     
    Mrs. Rodriguez is an EC Teacher with a Bachelor of Music from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Education from Elon University.  She has been married for 11 beautiful years and has two children, ages 5 and 3.  Outside of school, Mrs. Rodriguez enjoys traveling and exploring new places around the country, listening to live music, and spending time with her family.  Her bucket list includes traveling abroad, taking the Silverton-Durango train in Colorado, and raising a good family.
