Southern High's Faulkner named the 2016 NC Construction Trades Teacher of the Year
Randy Faulkner, Carpentry and Core/Sustainable Construction teacher at Southern Alamance High School, was named the 2016 North Carolina Construction Trades Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA). Mr. Faulkner received the award at the annual conference of the NCHBA held at The Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst on November 30.
The award is given annually to one instructor in the state of North Carolina at the secondary/high school level who teaches construction trades that include carpentry, masonry, electrical trades, plumbing, cabinetmaking or HVAC. Emphasis for presentation of the annual award from the nation's largest state-level professional Home Builders Association is placed on occupational skills taught to students; how the skills relate to current industry needs and standards and how learning is extended beyond the walls of the classroom.
Nominations may be submitted by a local Home Builders Association, Career and Technical Education Director or local principal.
North Carolina's HBA is the largest state-level affiliate of the National Home Builders Association.
