Bitmoji ImageMy name is Inmaculada Castillejos Hill, and I am originally from Madrid, Spain. I graduated from the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and I hold a Master's degree in English Language and Literature. I have been teaching Spanish at CHS since 2003 and it was an honor to be chosen Teacher of the Year by my peers back in 2017. I am looking forward to a great school year teaching Spanish language and culture to your children.

The main goal of my course is the study of the Spanish language and its culture. The emphasis is placed on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing within and outside of the English classroom setting when possible. The context focuses on the students’ lives and experiences and includes exposure to everyday customs and lifestyles. Over the course of this year, we will learn about Hispanic culture through photographs, maps, artifacts, videos, movies, readings, songs, and hands-on experiences. Students will also enjoy listening and dancing to different Spanish and Latin American music. They should also check my website resources (activities and videos) to reinforce and practice what has been taught in class every day, and also Canvas to check assignments.

Please, read the welcome letter that I will give to your child on the first days of school so that you know more about the Spanish class and my expectations.
I am available for phone calls at (336) 570-6100 or meetings (by appointment) each day during my planning period (1st period, from 8:30 to 9:45), or before/after school. You can also contact me at inmaculada_hill@abss.k12.nc.us. My learning centers are on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30. All students are encouraged to attend in order to practice the language and work on missing assignments.
Looking forward to a very successful year!
