Hello! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was raised in Argentina, South America, spending 12 years of my childhood among the Latin American people whom I love so much! When I returned to the United States at age 18, I attended Gardner-Webb University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with a major in Spanish and a minor in French. My teaching certificate qualified me to teach both languages in grades 7 - 12, but my passion has always been to work with younger children, so I took a few more courses and received an add-on license to teach English to Students of Other Languages (ESOL) to students in grades K through 12. I later continued my professional development by working on and receiving National Board certification, a wonderful learning and growing process. I have now been teaching ESOL since 1998. It is exciting to see my students' progress throughout the years as I sometimes serve them for three or four years in a row. I hope to be a positive influence in their lives and in their future! Please feel free to email me at Sheila_Hedgecock@abss.k12.nc.us with any questions and/or concerns you may have about your children and their time with me.
