Welcome to the Alamance Virtual School!

My name is Cheryl Henderson.  A little about me...I am married and have two children. My son Josh is 28. I have a sweet granddog. My daughter Sarah is 23, engaged and will be getting married in the next month!!! She working hard in physical therapy school.  So, to help keep me busy at home we have two babies, Daisy a yorkie and Echo a terrier/chiwinie mix.  They keep us on our toes!

In regard to Alamance Virtual School, we have a new Exceptional Children's team and I am excited to start this new year with them!  I have over 17 years of experience working with exceptional children.  I hold high expectations for my students; but it is also my belief that learning is an interactive and social process and that the most effective learning happens when students are working in a positive, collaborative, respectful learning environment.  I also believe that a key ingredient to learning is to remember that children are always growing and that it is just as important to celebrate the small successes along with the big ones.

We have a new Exceptional Children's team this year at the Virtual School, and I am excited to work collaboratively with them and with you.  Please feel free to call or email at any time.  I will try to return your call or email before I leave for I finish for the day or at least within 24 hours.  I know that the beginning of this year will be different as we navigate a new year learning online.  However, I am excited to see what this school year brings as we work together to help your children be successful at the new Alamance Virtual School.
