This is my second year instructing Junior ROTC here at Western Alamance High School. I am very pleased with all the cadets and I am honored to be part of this outstanding program.
Commander Jason Roberson

Commander Jason S. Roberson was raised in Greenville, North Carolina and graduated from East Carolina University in 1997 with Bachelor degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. In August 1998, CDR Roberson entered into active service and after completing boot camp began professional training at Naval Nuclear Power School as a nuclear electrician in Charleston, SC. He was picked up for Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL in September 1999. He was commissioned in February 2000, and then reported to USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) in Sasebo, Japan serving as Electrical Officer while deploying as part of CARAT 2000. Upon completion of the deployment he returned to Newport, RI and attended Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) Division Officer School. After graduation he reported back to USS GERMANTOWN and served as the Auxiliary Officer and later Main Propulsion Assistant onboard. He was instrumental in the hull swap of USS GERMANTOWN and USS HARPERS FERRY. He then transferred to USS THE SULLIVANS serving as the Fire Control Officer from December 2002 to May 2004. He deployed as part of Northern Lights 2003.
Following two sea tours he reported to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville (FACSFACJAX) serving as Operations officer. Commander Roberson earned a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University and completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME Phase I). He then reported to SWOS Department Head School before reporting back to sea.
In 2007, Commander Roberson reported to USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) as Chief Engineer. In July 2008, he transferred to Commander Destroyer Squadron TWO SIX as the Combat Systems Officer. While in this tour he was selected to serve a one year IA tour in Afghanistan as part of OPERATION ENDURING FREEEDOM. Upon returning from Afghanistan he reported to Expeditionary Strike Group TWO and served as Flag Secretary for ADM Michelle Howard and VADM Kevin Scott from February 2010 to June 2011. During this tour he deployed in support of BALTOPS 2010 and supported the first BOLD ALLIGATOR exercise.
From 2011 to 2013, Commander Roberson was Assistant Director for Military Intelligence Program (MIP). He attained his Masters of Business Administration from Naval Postgraduate School in September 2012. In 2013, he transferred to USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and served as Damage Control Assistant and deployed as part of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and helped lead the ship through an extended dry docking availability. He was responsible for the docking and undocking of the ship.
In January 2015, he reported back to the DUSN staff as an Action Officer in the Integration Support Directorate Staff. He was responsible for 5 service contracts and the training of Field Service Representatives prior to their deployment into theater supporting OPERATION ENDURING SENTINEL.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Afghanistan Campaign Medal. CDR Roberson is married to his wife Heather and has three children. Isabel, Abigail and Sawyer.
