I am proud to be the principal of Sylvan Elementary. This will be my third full year as the principal, but my twentieth year in education. Prior to becoming an administrator at Sylvan, I was an elementary Exceptional Children’s teacher in Wake County from 2002-2005, and a middle school Exceptional Children’s teacher in Texas from 2005-2007. When I moved to Alamance County, I became an Exceptional Children’s teacher at Southern Middle School from 2007-2016. I began my administration path as the Assistant Principal at Southern Middle School in 2016 until I arrived at Sylvan as Principal in December 2019. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Communications Disorders and Master in Special Education, and Gardner Webb University with a Master in School Administration.
Parents, teachers, support staff, community and administration all play an important part in helping our students grow academically and socially. I believe that with the right supports in place and by having high expectations, our students will develop into successful student leaders.
I look forward to the new challenges that this school will bring for all of us. Please do not hesitate to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns.
