Hi!  I am Mrs. Harris, your third grade teacher!  This will be my 26th year of teaching!   I am a graduate of Elon University where I received a BS degree in Elementary Education.  I have taught grades pre-k, first, second, third, and fifth grades.  Why do I love third grade the most?  Third grade is a fun, yet challenging year where students are more independent, and still very excited about learning.  In return, that makes me excited too!
I am the proud mom of 20 year old twin boys, Everett and Austin. They are sophomores at UNC Chapel Hill. I am also the proud mom of a 20 year old stepson named Joshua, an 18 year old stepdaughter named Ellie, and a 15 year old stepdaughter named Anelise.  All five children make me very proud!

I love pets! I have a very fat cat (24 pound to be exact)  named Biscuit who is 14 years old, a very special dog named Dexter (mixed collie/shepherd), and two barn cats named Bambi and Pebbles.  I am an avid horse lover who enjoys trail riding on my free time. I have a ranch in the southern county of Alamance (Harris Family Ranch).  I am a proud owner of five horses! Kitty, a quarter horse, who is 23 years old.  Classy, a quarter horse, who is 25 years old. I also have two miniature horses named Flash and Pixie Pie who are just 5 years old! This past March, we had a very exciting surprise be born at our ranch.  Zippy, our baby colt, is now five months old. He has brought us so much joy.

I am very eager to teach all content areas and look forward to teaching all of you cursive writing!   I hope you enjoy reading because we will read many interesting nonfiction articles/textbooks, fiction books,  and poetry.  Reading is linked to everything you will do in life.  My favorite quote is " Reading is dreaming with your eyes open! "

I am so excited about being your third grade teacher.  It's going to be a fantastic year of learning, growing and lots of accomplishments.  I want your third grade year to be the very best year yet!
