• Dear Parents,

I am excited to have your child this year. I'm always trying to find innovative but challenging activities to help them learn Spanish in a fun way.

To make your child be successful in school, he needs support both at home and at school. I will do everything I can to make your kiddo feels enjoyment and love for Spanish classes but I ask you to work with him at home to feel enjoyment and love for English too. Only then we can ensure that your child be successful in both languages. Here I give you some tips that you can use when working with your child at home

    1) Read daily (in English), you can propose a special time to read after playtime, after dinner and make your child feel that this moment is to enjoy and learn from books. It is important to read 20 minutes daily to create the habit of reading. At this time you can work fluency, intonation and pauses, you can teach him to point out each word from left to right, etc. There is a link you can use where you will find leveled books that you can download and use. You just need to pay for the subscription.

    2) Review the High Frequency Words (in English) you can use flashcards, trays with sand or flour to trace the words; you can make sentences using the High Frequency Words, etc. The more your child identifies them the more he learns to read faster.

    3) Practice writing daily to develop writing skills.

The only way to get better at writing is to write. We will be practicing writing at school every day, so please practice writing (in English) at home every day too. Try to write your child’s name, letters, words, phrases, sentences. You can practice using the capital letter to start the sentence, write the letters correctly within the frame space, punctuation, leave space between words.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I will be more than happy to hear from you.

    Best regards,

    Ms. Cruz
