Robin Bowers - CTE Director

 

My name is Robin Bowers and I have worked for Alamance-Burlington Schools since 1996. I am a product of Career & Technical Education! Attending a Vocational Technical High School gave me my first appreciation for CTE. Before coming to ABSS, I taught in CTE programs at Chatham County Schools, ECPI Computer Institute and Durham Technical Community College. Prior to becoming Director, I worked in ABSS as a high school Business Education teacher, Career Development Coordinator and CTE Program Specialist. I have a Bachelors degree from Salem State University in Business Education and a Masters Degree from Ball State University in Career & Technical Education. I am a National Board Certified teacher and hold an NC Teaching license in MS/HS Business Education, Career Development Coordinator, Instructional Management Coordinator and CTE Administrator. I enjoy working with our teachers and local industry to make direct connections to the workforce for our students. I am passionate about CTE and Alamance County. I love working here as part of the #ABSSCTE family!

My name is Lindsey Criss and I serve as a Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator for ABSS CTE. I was most recently a Special Populations Coordinator for the last five years. Prior to becoming a Special Populations Coordinator, I was a Career Development Coordinator and a lateral entry Business Education Teacher at Hugh M. Cummings High School, working within ABSS since 2007. I hold a Master of Business Education Degree from North Carolina A & T State University. My Bachelor Degree in Sports Management is from Gardner-Webb University and my Associates Degree in Business Administration is from Cleveland Community College. I completed the North Carolina CTE Administrative Internship in 2017 and assist with district-wide CTE programmatic needs as requested. It is my pleasure to serve ABSS CTE!

Liz Vaden - CTE Special Populations Coordinator

 

My name is Liz Vaden and I am beginning my 29th year in education and 23rd year with the Alamance- Burlington Schools.  I am beginning my 3rd year as a district-wide Special Populations Coordinator.  Throughout my educational career, I have held positions as a Marketing Education Teacher, Transition Coordinator and a Career Development Coordinator.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Legal Administration from Greensboro College, Marketing Education Certification from UNC-Greensboro and my Master of Arts in Career and Technical Education from Ball State University.  It was my exposure to CTE through my Marketing Class and DECA that inspired me to be a Marketing Education Teacher and created my passion for CTE.   As A Special Populations Coordinator, I provide teachers with the tools necessary to achieve student success in the classroom.  In addition, I work with Special Populations students to recognize and utilize their academic and personal strengths to accomplish their post-secondary goals.  I believe that CTE is vital in ensuring that all students will be successful in a competitive and global workforce.  I also serve as the Treasurer of the Guidance & Career Development Division of North Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education (NCACTE).

My name is April Brantley and I am beginning my 17th year in education with Alamance- Burlington School System. I am proud to say that I am a product of ABSS as I graduated from Cummings High School.  I then received my Bachelor of Science in Special Education from UNC-Greensboro and my M. Ed. in Special Education from Elon University. I am beginning my 1st year as a district-wide Special Populations Coordinator.  I began my career as an Occupational Course of Study Teacher at Southern Alamance High School. Throughout my career, I have worked at the district level with the Department of Exceptional Children as a Transition Coordinator, High School Program Specialist, and most recently as a Zonal EC Program Specialist.  I also had the opportunity to start up and work with our very own Project SEARCH program at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center. Through my work in ABSS I have partnered with the CTE Department through several initiatives over the years. It was through this partnership that I realized my passion for CTE.  I am thrilled to be joining the ABSS CTE Family and look forward to learning and working in CTE this year!

My name is YoLonda Moody, and since January 2018, I serve as CTE Program Support. I am an NC State graduate with a BS in Agricultural Education. I also hold licensures in Career Exploration, Disadvantage and Handicap, Business Education, Middle School Math and Science along with a Computer Education Endorsement. Prior to retirement, my years of experience were spent teaching Career Exploration and Business Compute Technology at the middle school level and a few years teaching eighth grade math and Math 1.  I am delighted to be part of the ABSS-CTE family and I enjoy supporting CTE teachers and students in any way that I can.  I enjoy working with teachers and administrators in building bridges for our students, which enable them to transfer and apply their classroom knowledge and skills to the workforce to become successful citizens and employers in our diverse society.

My name is Lindsay Chatham and I began working with Alamance Burlington Schools in February of 2018.  I obtained my Certificate in Financial Accounting in 2015 from Alamance Community College.   My father, mother and sister have been a part of ABSS for a combined total of 50 years.  My father was an Auto Mechanic teacher.  My family history along with my experience in working in the accounting field made CTE a perfect fit.  I am proud to be a part of the CTE family.

My name is Mark Clapp, and I am the Middle School Career Development Coordinator for Alamance-Burlington School System. This is my 16th year as an ABSS employee. I have previously taught Business, Accounting, and Personal Finance courses at Williams High School, Ray Street Academy and Eastern Alamance High School. I am a lifelong resident of Burlington, and I graduated from Cummings High School. I received my Bachelor Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I am also a lifelong fan of the Heels. After working for 25 years in the business world, I started my career in education as a lateral entry teacher in 2003. I look forward to serving teachers and students in my new position, as we continue to "empower students to be successful citizens, workers and leaders in a global economy."

My name is Jacob Wade and I have been the CTE Lead Computer Technician for the last five years. I began working with Alamance Burlington Schools in the Fall of 2011 as a Computer Technician with the Technology Department. I have lived in Alamance County my entire life, and am an alumni of Southern Alamance High School. I have earned my Dell, HP and Lenovo Certifications. Working in CTE allows me to interact with a variety of technologies which keeps my job refreshing.
