    ******set the timer for one minute--  say words for that minute and ask them the beginning sound of the word like you say dog and they say /d/.  They need to be able to say 30 beginning sounds in one minute.

     

    -Reading:  We have been reading about The Stray Dog and Widget and learning who the characters are, the setting of the book and the beginning middle and end of the story.  Please do this with books at home.  The end of the year test asks them to tell about the beginning, middle, and end.  If it is nonfiction, they tell the main topic and 2 key details or facts they learned.

     

    -Science: Land features

     

    --Letters and sounds:  We use a letter, keyword and sound.

    We are now tapping out 3 letter words.  We use our arm and put the sounds on our shoulder, elbow and hand.  Mat /m/ /a/ /t/  do it slow medium fast to hear the word mat.  Practice the cvc paper nightly.

    --Math- We are learning partners of 10.  10 and 0, 9 and 1, 8 and 2, 7 and 3, 6 and 4, 5 and 5, 4 and 6, 3 and 7, 2 and 8, 1 and 9, 0 and 10.  They make a 10!

    • -field trip will be the 31st-- bring a light weight coat that day and comfortable clothes—pack lunch from home if you did not ask for a cafeteria bag lunch
    • Crazy hair day is 31st and send 50 cents for relay for life
    • November 2nd is awards day. I have sent home a green sheet to let you know if your child will receive an award at 830 or get to watch a movie at 100.  We used to do awesome eagle awards for good behavior------ but we are doing a special movie and popcorn instead. At 830, we will give out perfect attendance awards, 2 most improved awards and 2 terrific kid awards.  That is all!  At 100, the movie will be shown with popcorn for the soaring eagles.  Please read the green sheet!!!

    We only have school employees going on this trip.  We have an assistant going with us.  So if you checked you would like to a chaperone, unfortunately, we cannot have one on this trip.  Good news is-----everyone can come on the next trip.  I would love for everyone to come, but they have fire code laws.     Directions for the math 0-10 fluency chart

    Use a timer or fidget spinner to time your child read off the numbers.  They have one minute with me.  If you use a fidget spinner, just spin it on the table and when it stops see how far they got or how many times they read the page.  Try to beat your score!!

    -In the morning, you can drop off kindergarten children in front of the gym even if their siblings are in an upper grade. Please do not walk your child to the front door.  We have a few exceptions to this rule.  Those kids need it for safety.

    -lunch is at 12:20 please come if your child is ready for this-  check in at the office and get a visitor sticker and meet us in the cafeteria.  We sit by the door.

    -If your child goes home a different way, please call the office.  I may not see the note.
