B         85-92               Indicates student is proficient with the objective

C         77-84               Indicates student needs additional practice with the objective

D         70-76               Indicates student is interoffice with the objective

2.Types of Graded Work: The grade swill be determined using the following criteria:

                            Tests/Quizzes                                      Classwork

                            Homework                                          Participation

3.Progress Reports:  Your child will receive a progress report on a regular basis to keep you informed. The progress report will indicate the grades earned, assignments completed, and missing assignments. This progress report should be reviewed, signed, and returned to school the following school days. If you wish, please feel free to make a copy for your records, but please be sure to return the signed original. You can also check your child’s grades online. Information on how to access your child’s grades online will be given at a later date.

4.Report Cards: At the end of the nine weeks, your child will receive a report card. Parents should review each report card with their child and sign the report card envelope indicating that you have received the report card. You must attend a conference with your child’s teacher in order to receive your child’s first report card (at the end of the first 9-weeks). Please keep the report card for your records; however, the report card envelope needs to be returned the following school day unless prior arrangements have been made.

5.Homework: Reading homework is assigned weekly and is collected on Friday. Math homework is collected the day after it is assigned. No late work will be accepted after Friday unless prior arrangements were made with the teacher.

6.Projects: Occasionally, I find a project that cannot be done in class due to time restrictions and will require the work be completed at home. Projects will be announced allowing ample time for completion. I will also include a rubric, which gives the grading criteria for that specific project.

7.Make-Up Work: If a student is absent, it is the responsibility of the student to complete and turn in all make-up assignments including homework.

  • Third Grade Homework Policy

1.Homework may be assigned Monday through Thursday of each week in Reading and Math.

2.Homework is assigned to help students practice the skills they have been taught in class in order to become successful in 3rd grade. We anticipate that students should spend up to 30 minutes per night on homework assignments. This is in addition to the 20 minutes of reading each night.

3.Homework assignments are posted on the board every morning for your child to copy in his/her homework notebook. It is the student’s responsibility to copy down the assignments daily.

4.Agendas are checked for complete written assignments and parent’s signatures. Please check the homework notebook daily for assignments and sign to indicate that you have reviewed your child’s completed homework. A parent’s signature indicates that you have checked your child’s completed homework and it is completed accurately.

5.The student should complete all homework assignments neatly and in pencil unless otherwise instructed.

6.All reading assignments are due by Friday. Math homework is collected the day after it is assigned. Homework assignments are expected to be turned in on time. Late assignments will not be accepted after Friday unless prior arrangements were made. If an emergency should arise, please notify the teacher so arrangements can be made. If your child fails to turn in homework on time without prior arrangements having been made, your child will be required to complete the work during a “working lunch” or at some other non-academic time of the day. This policy is intended to help teach your child to be responsible.

7.A homework grade will be factored into the final nine weeks grade. Missing homework assignments may result in a zero.

8.If a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn in all make-up assignments within 2 days after returning to school.

9.Graded homework papers will be sent home. Please look over and review the work with your child.
