  • Alamance County Youth Advisory Council

The Alamance County Youth Advisory Council (ACYAC) consists of high school students in Alamance County. Under adult supervision, the focus is on the prevention of underage drinking. ACYAC members are trained on advocacy, substance abuse, parliamentary procedures, communication and media literacy as well as conflict resolution, cultural competency and public speaking. Members plan events in the community to raise awareness of the issue of underage drinking/ binge drinking and advocate for policies and laws that support healthy and safe homes, schools and communities.

ACYAC typically meets the second and fourth Monday evenings from 6:15-7:30 p.m. in Graham. There is an expectation that members attend these meetings as well as participate in planned activities and events by the group during the year.
New members are currently being recruited for ACYAC. The first step is to complete an Interest Form (attached). If you are accepted to interview you will receive more instructions as noted below.
    Requirements for ACYAC:
    - You must be a rising High School Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior

    - You must be available to attend and provide your own transportation to meetings and community events planned by the group during the year.

If you complete and submit the Interest Survey and are accepted to interview for ACYAC you will be interviewed by current ACYAC members and adult staff.
