Promote a school culture that provides students and staff the tools to recognize, understand, and self-regulate stress and emotions in order to improve student sense of belonging in the classroom, student motivation to learn, and student engagement in learning.
Hi! I'm Tracy Schledorn, Highland Elementary's school counselor. I collaborate with our staff in serving the academic, social/personal, and career needs of our 740+ kindergarten through fifth graders through individual student planning, classroom lessons, prevention programs, small groups, and character education. I am also on the School Improvement & Leadership Team, Multi-tiered System of Support Team, Student Support Services Team, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Team. I am the 504 Committee Chair, the Student Council Co-advisor, and Hawk of the Month Coordinator. I'm active on Highland's Beautification Committee and on ABSS's advocacy association. It is an honor to work for our students!
I will be happy to schedule an appointment to meet with you or to discuss any questions/concerns over the phone. My email is Tracy_Schledorn@abss.k12.nc.us and the front office is (336) 538-8700.
Although I am not an Alamance County native, I’ve been in the area for over two decades. I earned my bachelor's degree in science education at Elon College (it wasn't yet "University" when I graduated) and taught for six years at Williams High School. I earned my MS/EdS in school counseling from UNCG and worked for eight years as one of the school counselors at Southern Alamance Middle School. I became Highland's School Counselor in 2017.
If there is any way I can be of assistance, let me know. I look forward to working with your student!
P.S. -- I’ve learned that most have an easier time pronouncing my last name if divided into syllables: “schle-” (schlay) and “dorn.”
