Journalism Course Credit: 1 Unit Course Description: Grade level requirements differ widely from school to school (see individual school’s registration sheets). This course teaches the fundamentals of producing a high school newspaper. The study of journalism will include the basics of news writing, a brief history of journalistic ethics, and libel laws. Students will compose and produce various school publications. Opportunities will be provided for involvement in the media community beyond the classroom. Students should have skills in the areas of photography, keyboarding, and writing. Prior approval by the advisor is recommended.
