Superhero of the Month
Superhero of the Month is a monthly program that recognizes a student from each class (chosen by their teachers) who demonstrates the character trait being worked on for that month. There will be a celebration of these students that includes a recognition certificate, a gift bag and a short speech (given by the HERO Leadership League) that their teacher has compiled celebrating each student chosen for this award. There will also be recognition on the Superhero wall. Invitations will be sent out to parents if their child has been awarded this honor. We are looking forward to our students’ display of all of their amazing superhero traits!
Hero Leadership League
NGE Grade 5 Student Leadership Team
HERO, the North Graham Elementary Leadership League, is an acronym for Helping Everyone Respect Others. This year, 5th grade students interested in HERO will fill out an application to become a part of this influential group that promotes service learning. The HERO Student Leadership League is a group of students interested in helping out around the school and modeling positive behaviors for younger students. Student eligibility will be based on leadership abilities and sense of responsibility. This team will further their leadership potential by acting as ambassadors for the school. Duties may include: speaking at school events (awards ceremonies, superhero of the month celebrations, etc.), being ushers at school plays and events, occasional morning announcements, greeting visitors of the school who wish to take a tour, new student buddies and HERO buddy duties to a younger class (reading a story or having lunch with their buddy class).
If you are interested in being a HERO, you will be asked to fill out the application, have a parent sign the permission slip and have a teacher (your current teacher, a previous teacher or specials teacher) fill out a recommendation form and return these forms to Ms. Mills. Team meetings will occur during arrival, lunch time or at the end of the day to ensure student academic time will be minimally affected. If you have any questions regarding this opportunity, please contact Ms. Mills.
