Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies

I would like to welcome you scholars to expanding your skills and knowledge of the world. In 7th grade Social Studies you will learn about the history of the world starting from the Renaissance to modern day in order to gain detailed understanding of our interdependent world. In this course we will explore the world's patterns of change through conflict and cooperation, economic development, population shifts, cultural values and beliefs, political thought and organizations, and the impact of environment over time. Our discovery and exploration will be conducted by examining the similarities and differences responsible for the various factors that shaped the regions of globe and developed societies.

To achieve our goal of world learning you will survey the history of the world through its history, geography and environmental literacy, economic and financial literacy, civic and governance and its culture.

Classroom Expectations

Students are scholars and will report to class on time, in their seats, and ready to learn.
Scholars will complete and turn their assigned work in on time.
Scholars will seek out help from their teacher with any question on all assignments.
Scholars will follow all the guidelines and instructions laid out within the Student Handbook.
Scholars will be dressed and behave according to the instructions laid out within the Student Handbook.

Grading Scales

A: 90% - 100% D: 69% - 60%

B: 89% - 80% F: 59% and Below

C: 79% - 70%

Academic dishonesty will result in failing grade and loss of Respect.

Assignments

Scholars shall read the assigned text and be ready to discuss the material covered when applicable.

The teacher will start class promptly and every scholar needs to be in the classroom prepared and ready to learn.
Notesheets for the day's lesson will be provided within scholars 7th Grade Social Studies Canvas page.
After the assignment is given by the teacher scholars will apply their new knowledge to the corresponding assigned activity.
Prior to each Unit or Module Test scholars will have a review day to help prepare themselves and ready their learned knowledge. During this review day scholars will complete a study guide and ensure their notebooks are organized with that unit or module's completed notesheets.
On the day of a Unit or Module Test scholars will turn into the teacher their completed study guides and notebooks for grading.
Module Quizzes will be given throughout units and will be both announced and unannounced.

Late Work Policy

The teacher will assign work as normal with a specified due date designated in Canvas.
All work is due on the assigned due date. Assignments turned in after the due date will show as late in Canvas, but will not be counted as late until Friday night at 11:59 pm of the week it was due.
A grade of ZERO will be put in the gradebook until the scholar turn in the assignment.
If a scholar submits the wrong assignment into Canvas I will leave the scholar the message in Canvas that they need to resubmit the assignment and give the scholar a score of 5%.
Late assignments that are turned in after Friday 11:59 pm will incur a 10 point penalty off the earned score. Example: I earned a 93, but got an 83 because it was late.
The Teacher will apply the late work grade reductions after Friday 11:59 pm. The grace period is between the due date and Friday at 11:59 pm of the same week.
