Students will begin bringing Action 100 books home to read this week. They are required to read for 30 minutes every night writing down a book title on their log sheet for every 15 minutes of reading. For example if Johnny reads 2 books for 15 minutes, he only has to write down on book title. If it takes him 15 minutes to read one book, then he only has to write down 1 book title. Please make sure you are encouraging your child to read daily, check their logs and sign your name as their coach. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me.
Please continue to check Class Dojo for any important messages and upcoming events at school. If you child is going home a different way then they normally do, please send me a note through class dojo.
Something new about my classroom this year is FLEXIBLE SEATING. Flexible seating is a type of classroom environment that has replaced traditional desks and chairs with a variety of seating arrangements. Students have the opportunity to choose the seating arrangement that is best for tier learning. Flexible seating is more student centered and less teacher centered. Flexible seating encourages collaboration and communication which are necessary skills for the 21st Century classroom.
I will be sending home a weekly newsletter home though class dojo. This will include upcoming events, our specials schedule and what our instructional topics will be for the upcoming week.
