HI, my name is Heather Carson and I am so very excited to have the pleasure to teach your child this school year.
This will be my thrid year at Smith Elementary School and my 25 year in education. I have taught in the areas of preschool all the way to Middle School. I LOVE Pre-K students. My favorite part is to watch how much they grow and develop over the school year.
I have my Master in Education from East Carolina University, Bachelors of Education from The University of Memphis and an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood from Alamance Community College. I am currently taking classes at East Carolina University for my Birth - Kindergarten Certification.
I am married to school principal and professional photographer. We have three girls, one in college, one in High School and one in 2nd grade, here at Smith.
I love scrapbooking, reading, and hanging out with my family.
I am looking forward to a SUPER year with our superHEROes!!

Hi there, my name is Holly Barnes and I am your Pre k teacher assistant.
My husband and I moved here from Newfoundland Canada in 1997 because he is a nurse and works at Duke. The funny thing is we were only going to stay for a couple of years and now it’s been twenty-three years.
I have a daughter her name is Amanda she lives in Newfoundland and I have a son is name is Ethan; he lives with us and is working on two year degree in business at Alamance Community College. We also have a dog name Gadget.
I love working with children that is why I have my Associates Degree in Early Childhood.
Some of the things I like to do in my spare time is walking Gadget when its not to hot!!! I like checking in on Facebook to see how my family back home is doing. I like to color, gardening, and most importantly I love spending time with my family.
