The car rider line continues to improve and most days it is clear in 20 minutes, which is not bad considering the number of students.  Please just remember that you should not turn left into the car rider circle between 3:30 and 3:50 as it backs up traffic and we are unable to get our buses out of the bus lot.  Please also note that students should not be dropped off or picked up on Mebane Rogers Road as that can be a big safety issue.

EAHS Weekly Update - Week of August 29th

We had a wonderful first week with students back on campus.  I appreciate your patience with our car rider line and bus transportation issues.  As a reminder, in the afternoons please line up on the right side of Mebane Rogers Rd and turn right into our car rider circle.  This keeps the one lane of traffic clear for individuals exiting onto Mebane Rogers Rd as well helping to get our buses out and on the road in a timely manner.  Hopefully our bus pickup and drop off times will be more consistent this week.  We have made some changes to our afternoon routes in order to get some students home earlier, however I know that many students are still getting home late.  If you are interested in driving a bus, you can apply by visiting www.abss.k12.nc.us and clicking on the careers tab. Here is a direct link to apply to drive a bus at EAHS and Woodlawn.  https://nc.teachermatch.org/applyteacherjob.do?jobId=456530.

We have worked hard to give out over 1100 laptops for your student to use in class and at home.  If you are interested in purchasing the insurance for your child’s laptop it must be purchased by September 7th.  You can now purchase insurance online, please visit the EAHS website to purchase the insurance online or  CLICK HERE to purchase the insurance for your child’s chromebook.

EAHS Weekly Update - Week of August 22nd

On Monday morning, we are extremely excited to welcome 1150 students back to campus for the first time in seventeen months.  It will be great to see our hallways and classrooms full with students once again.  Please remember that masks are mandatory for all students while inside any building on our campus.  If your child refuses to wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose then you will be contacted to come and pick them up.  All students will report to their Success Academy class at 8:30 in the morning.  Students can find their success academy teacher listed on their schedule or we will have them posted in the Auditorium Lobby.  CTEC students will also report to Success Academy and we will make an announcement to dismiss them to the bus lot to go to CTEC.

Please note that we are unfortunately short staffed in regards to bus drivers.  We ask your patience tomorrow morning as our bus drivers are learning their new routes.  Students should be at their bus stop 10 to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time.  Again, we appreciate your patience as we work through this driver shortage.  If you are interested in driving a bus, you can apply at https://nc.teachermatch.org/applyteacherjob.do?jobId=456530.

If your child has not yet picked up their school issued chromebook then they will be able to do so on Monday during 1st or 2nd period.  In order for students to pick up a chromebook they will need a signed copy of the EAHS Remote Learning Agreement.  Parents/students can choose to purchase insurance for mobile learning devices for the 2021/2022 school year at a cost of $25.  This payment will cover any unintentional damage to the device for the 2021/2022 school year.  You are encouraged to purchase insurance as quickly as possible, however, the cut off date for purchasing insurance will be September 7th.  You can now purchase insurance online, please CLICK HERE to purchase the insurance for your child’s chromebook.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) will be offered at Eastern on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.  This assessment  is optional for students.
