A little about me...

I grew up in North Carolina, I adore the mountains and love reading, mostly Post-Apocalyptic/Fantasy books. Photography and hiking are my jam and I have recently taken up mountain biking, I am not good at it, but I do have fun. I have been married for 9 years, we have two dogs (they will be 12 this year). My husband and I love to travel (see picture above: we are at the Cliff of Moher in Ireland), we adore all things outdoors and enthusiastically watch Appalachian Football, GO MOUNTAINEERS!!

I have taken a very unconventional route to elementary education, as I received my undergrad at Appalachian State with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, life chose a different path for me after college and a few years after I graduated I began teaching at a Reggio-based preschool, I loved it! I taught there for 5 years and while there I decided to pursue elementary education in 2018. I received a M.A.T in Elementary Education from Liberty University in December of 2020. I began teaching at Highland in January, so this will be my first full year as an elementary teacher. I am super excited and a wee bit nervous, but I cannot wait to meet all my new students and learn about them, as I am sure they will be teaching me a thing or two as well.
