Study Regarding the Closing of the Current Elon Elementary School Building Once Students are Moved to a New Elementary School to be Constructed by Elon University
The Administration of the Alamance-Burlington School System has studied the proposed closing of the current Elon Elementary School if Elon University constructs a new elementary school and once students are moved to that new elementary school and makes the following findings:
The new school is located approximately 1.5 miles from the current school and does not materially impact the geographic condition of the school.
Anticipated Impact on Enrollment
Enrollment will not change as a result of moving students to the new school.
Inconvenience or Hardship
Moving students to the new school will not result in an appreciable inconvenience or hardship to students, and having students in a brand new school will be a benefit.
Cost of Providing New School Facilities
The will be no cost to the school system as the cost of construction will be borne by Elon University.
In light of the clear benefits to the school system and its students, the Administration recommends that the Board of Education approve the closing of the current Elon Elementary School if Elon University constructs a new elementary school and once students are moved to the that new school.
