TITLE I Parent Conference, December 12, 2017
I hope that everyone is having a productive and positive Thursday. I am working on the logistics and planning for our upcoming Title I parent conference. I wanted to send out some important information as it relates to the success of our upcoming parent conferences as a district.
As you all know, the purpose of the Title I conference is to engage our parents and families through instructional sessions, opportunities to learn about community resources, fun and engaging interaction with members of their child's school community, and to help families understand how Title I assists in their child's success.
Data and Attendance Goals:
Last year we had approximately 175 families to attend our Title I conference. That is 2% of our Title I families. We were able to engage those families in curriculum, financial literacy, technology, immigration law, and college preparation. This school year 2017-2018 there are 15 Title I schools with a total of 8,374 students.
We have set a goal for this year's conference and I would love to see our attendance rise by at least 8% that is a total of 670 families in all.
I will begin sending out conference registration forms and flyers soon. It is important that teachers understand what the flyers are and what to do with the forms when they receive them back.
How Can You Help?
- please add conference information to your website
- school newsletters
- have your PTO/PTA mention it at parent meetings
- mention it at curriculum nights
- place a sign at the car rider line, etc.
Title I funding benefits our students and a huge component of Title I is parental engagement. Please assist us with this effort. We are constantly thinking of ways to encourage more parental participation at the conference and would greatly appreciate any suggestions that you have.
