Welcome to my website!
I am originally a born and bred Yankee....from Buffalo, NY, but proud to call North Carolina home now! This is my 27th year teaching, my 13th year at Highland Elementary and my fifth year teaching second grade. I previously taught fifth grade at Highland for four years, third grade at Highland for 4 years, and at Elon for 4 years. I began my teaching career in the tidewater region of Virginia, teaching severely and profoundly handicapped one year and then educably mentally handicapped for four years at middle school level. In 1997 my family and I relocated to North Carolina, where I taught learning disabled in a resource setting in Guilford County for three years and then fifth grade at a local Catholic school for three years. I have a BS degree from Keuka College and dual certification in both elementary and special education. I also have AIG endorsement, SIOP certification and am a recent graduate of ABSS' Teacher Leadership Academy. My husband, Paul, is also an educator. He has been assistant principal at Southern Alamance High School for the past 17 years. We have three children, Lexi, a seventh grader at Southern Middle, Frank, an engineer in Raleigh, and Nick, who is in the Air Force. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and wide variety of experience to educate and prepare my students for the 21st century.
