Welcome to Career Development!Mrs. Rae Johnson
Room A1Career Development Coordinator
Email: rae_johnson@abss.k12.nc.us919-563-5991 Ext. 32422
I have spent my entire teaching career with Alamance-Burlington Schools. I taught ten years at Hugh M. Cummings as a Family and Consumer Science teacher. I transferred to my Al Mater (Eastern) in 2002 and love "being home." I have served as a Family and Consumer Science teacher, Curriculum Facilitator and currently as the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) at this school.
Family and Consumer Science curriculum is my heart! I believe the content and opportunities that are available in these courses are transferrable and relevant to everyday life and employment. It is an updated, engaging curriculum that involves higher order thinking and problem solving.
As the CDC, I supervise student interns who are placed in the community in a variety of settings. This provides a hands-on learning experience outside the classroom and allows students to apply learned knowledge obtained in Career and Technical Education courses. Students receive course credit. I also coordinate other services such as Job Shadowing, Career Investigations, Career Development, ASVAB assessment, Career Fairs, etc. In addition, I serve students at Woodlawn Middle and Hawfields Middle with career development initiatives.Students enrolled in CTE Internship:Join your Canvas AND Powerschool here: http://my.ncedcloud.org (need student ID & password) -
