Welcome to my website.  My name is Travis Hanks and this is my thirteenth year teaching at Hawfields Middle.  I will be teaching Social Studies this year.  I ask students to come to class with a positive attitude and a desire to learn new things.  Class discussions, writing journal entries, creating projects and reading, reading, reading will all be very important activities in my class.  A little about myself:  I live in Chapel Hill and graduated from UNC back in 1997.  I have a wife and one son.  I love traveling, reading, watching movies and listening to music.  I look forward to getting to know my new students as well as their families.  Let's have a fun and productive year!
