Third grade is a wonderful growing time for children. They go from the lower elementary grades into the upper elementary. Students really start putting those reading skills to work by reading more challenging texts. Math knowledge expands from addition and subtraction to multiplication and division.
Most children make this transition with only a few hiccups but some students will need time to adjust to longer, more independent assignments that include grades. Teachers, parents and students need to work together with open communication so that the school year is a positive, successful experience.
