• fixedgatoriffic What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support?

PBIS provides a framework to ensure that all students have access to the most effective instructional and behavioral practices throughout the school.  Here at Garrett, we have been implementing this framework for the past two school years.  PBIS is designed to provide all of our students with positive expectations and reinforcements.  In order for the Garrett staff to increase learning in the classrooms, we realize that we must capture the hearts of our students and provide them with the opportunity to gain ownership in what they are learning.

How will this affect my child(ren)

    at Garrett Elementary?

Garrett has school-wide rules and consequences.  Every teacher has the same positive expectations and reinforcements for each child, no matter their location in the school.  Students will have the opportunity to earn rewards for exhibiting R.O.C.K. behavior.  Not only this, but your child will develop a more positive outlook on school and their learning!

    What does R.O.C.K. mean?
Garrett gators can ROCK.  Each letter of R.O.C.K. stands for a different expectation that we have at Garrett.

    R is for Responsible
    O is for Respect Others
    C is for Self-Control.
    K
    is for Kindness.

These expectations will be clearly defined in the classroom, specialty classes, hallways, bathrooms, and cafeteria.  Students and teachers are expected to know our motto and what R.O.C.K. stands for.
