A 1968 graduate of Southern Alamance High, I am excited to teach at my alma mater. After graduating from UNC-G, I spent two years teaching at Hong Kong Baptist College in Kowloon, Hong Kong. I traveled with friends and visited Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan and Hawaii, as well as backpacked for 10 weeks through Europe in 1975, visiting over 10 countries. Upon my return to the U.S., I taught in Maryland and Chapel Hill before coming home to North Carolina.

After marriage and being a stay-at-home Mom for several years, I worked for seven years at Andrews Memorial Readiness School in Graham. From there, I taught at Graham High School for six years before transferring to Southern in 1996. I retired from ABSS after my 18th year in the Business Department at SAHS.

My son graduated from N.C. State, with a degree in mechanical engineering and works in Greensboro. He and his wife have three children. My daughter, a graduate of UNC-G, is a kindergarten teacher. She and her husband have three children.

My roles as a mother, and grandmother are my first priorities. I love being a homemaker, gardener and a planner of meals and gatherings/parties for family and friends. I am a certified PADI scuba diver and have enjoyed dive trips to the Outer Banks of NC, the Cayman Islands and Roatan, off the coast of Honduras.  I have made two extensive trips to Alaska and Canada, as well as Ireland, and witnessed some of the most incredibly beautiful scenery in the world!

As a teacher, I love to guide each student to his/her full potential in the classroom. It's a joy to share my knowledge of curriculum with my classes and in return, learn many things from my students.

I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know each one of you and your parents/guardians this semester.
