    Meet the Teacher
My name is Mrs. Hargrove. I am the Tier III interventionist for grades K-5 at Alexander Wilson Elementary. This is my 27th year in the education system and my 23rd year at AWE.  I am a national board certified teacher in the area of literacy and a graduate of Western Carolina University.  I live with my husband and my rescued beagle.  My son, Nick, is off at college now. He is attending East Carolina University pursuing a career in nursing. My favorite place in the world is North Myrtle Beach, better known as my "Happy Place"!  I enjoy reading, running, and listening to beach music!

My goal is to foster literacy independence and create lifelong readers. I will explicitly teach reading/math and allow students the time to practice independently. I play an important role in helping my students to become college or career ready. Steps taken this year will get them closer to their ultimate destination.  I look forward to helping my students reach their goals!
Please feel free to email me with any questions and/or concerns.

I strongly believe in giving back to the community and being kind to others.  That's why I participate in Relay for Life and give to the United Way. Through our events, students are learning the value in volunteering and making a difference in the lives of others.

Some of my favorite quotes related to showing kindness and being generous are:
"Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others" -Booker T. Washington
"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference." -Jimmy Carter
"No one can do everything, but everyone can do something." -Max Lucado
