    Visual Arts and Pottery

I’m looking forward to a great school year at Williams, working with our students to bring out their creative potential. I believe that each person has the ability to communicate through visual arts. Tapping into this potential requires the proper guidance and motivation. I plan to broaden students’ perception of how they see, think and communicate visually.

Below I’ve include a synopsis of each course I teach. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

    ART I

This course is designed to inform and engage students, laying a foundation of fundamental understanding and application of the basic vocabulary, methods, processes and techniques involved in creating art. Students will use artists’ work, current events, nature, material experimentation and personal point of view as jumping-off points to create their artwork.

This course is designed to build on the foundations of Art I, focusing exclusively on the methods, techniques & concepts for the ceramic medium. Students will learn and use hand-building methods and decorative techniques to create their own original ceramic pieces. Students will use things such as their perspective, observations, nature and professional artists’ work to inform their own art-making.
