Hello!  Welcome to my web page!  This is my 8th year working at Elon Elementary and seventh year in 3rd Grade.  I have worked in other school districts as a teacher assistant, tutor and classroom parent. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with two degrees – a BS in Industrial Relations and a BA in Psychology.  Before I married and had children, I held positions in management and personnel.  After the birth of my three sons, I was a stay-at-home mom, and became their first teacher.

When my youngest son began kindergarten, I felt a calling towards education.  I returned to school to earn my licensure in Elementary Education.  I met – and in some cases, exceeded – all requirements for a lateral entry teaching position.  I have a deep concern and love for all children.  It gives me great joy to experience the world through their eyes.  I believe I have something positive to offer each child in my classroom to help them achieve their goals.  I am looking forward to a terrific school year working with the children and my team at Elon!

I have three sons - one is a Senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, one is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill, and the youngest is a Junior at Western Alamance High School.  My husband is the County Manager in Wayne County, but we love Alamance County, so Carter and I chose to stay here while he works there during the week.

  • Parents:  PLEASE make sure your children are reading every night for at least 20 minutes.  There is NO better practice for reading than . . . reading!! They can read books, magazines, newspapers, Sunday School lessons or Bible stories - just as long as they are reading.  Discuss what they've read with them.  Just ask them questions - what do you like about this story? what do you think will happen next? what would you do in this situation?
