As an Academic Coach, I collaborate with teachers, coaches, and administrators about instructional practices, planning, and curriculum. I also serve as a resource and support as we implement best practices for all staff members. I provide professional development for the Alamance Burlington School System. I am thrilled with the opportunity to help students, teachers, and the Snow Camp community in the learning process and look forward to working with the Blue Jay team this year!
Prior to this role, I taught in the classroom for 6 years. I have taught 3rd & 4th grades in our district in addition to 5th grade in Pittsylvania County Schools in Virginia. I attended Averett University where I earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts with Teacher Certification in 2004. While attending college I was actively involved in Student Government, Baptist Student Union, Cougar Club, and Student Activities and served in various leadership roles. I also worked as a daycare teacher assistant, summer camp program coordinator, and a nanny while completing my degree.
I am married to my best friend, Chris, and we have a daughter, Leah a son, Jude, and a furry human named Uno.
My future goal is to earn a masters degree to continue to develop and grow professionally. I hope to oneday work as a mentor for beginning teachers at the college level. Or become a children's party planner! ;)
