    About our School:

     

    Haw River Elementary School is located at 701 East Main Street in Haw River, North Carolina.  It is a Title One school and celebrates its diversity of 56% Hispanic, 21% Black, 19% White, 3% Multi-racial, and 1% Asian.


    Literacy Process:
     
    Our literacy program components include: highly individualized instruction based on student data; highly engaging, hands-on lesson activities; and extensive, targeted teacher training.

    Math Process:
     
    At Haw River, teachers become facilitators as students share and discover ways of making math relevant to their level of understanding. Students learn how to unpack ideas and concepts in math by using reasoning, manipulatives, and collaboration.
    Technology:
     

    Technology is used  to strengthen reading, writing, and math skills; conduct research; and  reinforce and enhance the curriculum at every grade level. Each grade level has a tech cart available for use during the day. All classrooms have Smartboards and document cameras are available. All upper grade students utilize Gaggle email accounts. Students also use various web based programs for enrichment.
