Hello, my name is Norma Thompson and I am the school counselor for the 6th grade, as well as for Ms. Houze's team in the 7th grade. I got my Master's Degree in School Counseling from NC A&T University in Greensboro.This is my 17th year with the Alamance-Burlington School System. I have served the students of Alamance County in different capacities,including Hispanic Family Specialist, Drop Out Prevention Coordinator and School Counselor. This is my 9th year at GMS, and I am thrilled to be a member of the GMS Family and look forward to working with the administrators, teachers, students and their families.
My responsibilities as school counselor are to support all students with personal/social issues, explore career options with them and support their overall academic success. I provide:
- Classroom guidance
- Individual counseling
- Small-group counseling
- Facilitate conferences with parents, teachers and administrators.
I am also the Student Support Services Team (SSST) chair, and I am a member of our Crisis Team.
