Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. David Peters
A little bit about me: I am a North Carolinian born and bred. I grew up in Raleigh and lived in the same house with my father, mother, and sister until I graduated from high school and went to North Carolina State University. I double majored at NC State in English (with a creative writing focus) and Political Science. While at NC State, I fostered a passion for education while tutoring at a local Boys and Girls Club my freshman year, and later tutoring writing and speaking to fellow students through the NC State Writing Center. I knew I wanted to enter education.
I spent two years at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana earning a Master's Degree in English Literature and teaching Freshman Composition. I was relieved to finally graduate in 2012 after six years of college!
About me personally: I am married to my best friend whom I met in college. My hobbies include fishing, biking, soccer, and reading, and reading, and more reading. I have over seven hundred books in my library. I can normally be found during down time reading. Even though I am an English teacher, I actually read more history nonfiction than imaginative literature. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.
NOTE: All my classes will have a class website through Canvas. If you have a question regarding your son or daughter's performance in English, please do not hesitate to email me at David_Peters@abss.k12.nc.us. Thank you.

AP ENGLISH IV SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT
To all students who intend to take AP English IV in the 2019 - 2020 school year, the class has summer reading and corresponding assignments. The two readings are 1984 and A Tale of Two Cities, and you may access the reading assignments through the attachment link below.
The work is due the first day back from summer, whether or not the class is in the fall or spring semesters.
If you were unable to retrieve the readings before the beginning of summer break and thus need to pick up either of the readings this summer, please go to Eastern and request to get the books (they are being saved in guidance).
