My name is Nancy Cothren and I am the Principal of North Graham Elementary. I have worked with the Alamance Burlington School System for 19 years. During my career with ABSS, I worked as a teacher at Smith Elementary where I taught third and fourth grade. I have also worked as an academic coach for 7 years in a different county. After attending UNCG as a Principal Fellow, I worked as an assistant principal at Garrett Elementary. In 2012 I moved to North Graham Elementary as the principal.
As the principal of North Graham, I have a passion for instructional excellence and the ARTS! In 2015 our school was selected to become an A+ School where students receive arts-integrated instruction. As a part of the A+ philosophy, our students participate in additional courses in the areas of dance and drama. Starting in grade 3, students can also sign up to take orchestra classes!
As an instructional leader, I love visiting classrooms to watch students interact in their learning environment. We have an outstanding staff who work diligently to provide rigorously aligned instruction on a daily basis. I am always amazed by the progress our students make as I observe the work that is posted throughout the building. I am also thrilled to share that North Graham has met expected growth in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018!
