My name is Herlinda Cañedo-Sosa, Spanish teacher of your child. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to the 2019-2020 school year at Hugh M. Cummings High School.

I am originally from Guadalajara, México. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics from Autonoma University of Guadalajara, Mexico. This is my four year teaching at Cumming High School and we have a dedicated team to support your child.

It is an honor to be able to share this school year with you. As the teacher, it is my job to introduce my students to the  Spanish language and its fascinating history and vibrant culture. Learning a language is interactive, creative and fun!

As a Spanish teacher, my philosophy is simple. I care enough about my students that I will give them every opportunity to succeed. It is important for you to work closely with us in order to support your child.

By the end of the semester, they will have increased their knowledge of the Hispanic world significantly. They should continue to read and write in Spanish as well as to practice listening and speaking skills. It is also my hope that they will continue their Spanish studies so that they will be able to understand, appreciate and speak the language well. By continuing to acquire proficiency in Spanish, they will greatly increase their employment opportunities and chances of college acceptance as well.

I will be available by pre-arranged appointments for any students needing additional help. Prescheduled parent/teacher conferences can also be arranged.  I can be reached by email or by the school telephone.

Students will take home the Welcome letter from my class which you will be able to find more information related to this course.

I am looking forward to seeing you during the open house.
