Visual Art & Yearbook
Hello everyone! I am so excited to embark on this year’s academic and creative journey with each of you. During our time together, we will be delving into a rich curriculum full of playful exploration through art making. We will be covering a wide range of methods, materials, and history movements in art.
A little bit about me:
I recently graduated from Appalachian State University with a BFA in art education, and a studio focus in ceramics. Growing up, I always loved art in school; it provided me with the creative freedom I felt my other classes were lacking. Visual art teaches us to be inquisitive and observant through self-expression and reflection. I feel that it is these qualities that help enrich our experiences, as they foster and strengthen the creative problem-solving skills necessary to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving society. This necessary opportunity for people to express themselves and their beliefs is just one of the many reasons I chose this career.
I also love bright colors, glitter, and dogs! Woo hoo!
It is my personal goal this year to not only grow each student’s understanding of what art is, but to also help them learn to take ownership of their work and feel proud of their efforts in school. Through community outreach, and connection with local artists, I want to give each student in art the opportunity to see their efforts at large in, and through, the community; as active community members, I feel that is crucial the hard work of these students be recognized.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am looking so forward to what this school year has in store for us!
