Hello! Welcome to my classroom webpage.
About Me, Mrs. Stacey Johnson
I joined Elon Elementary in January of 2015 as an administrative intern. My oldest daughter had just started at Elon Elementary as a kindergartener and I was lucky enough to work part time at her school to earn my principal certification. I graduated in December that year from UNCG with my certification in K-12 school administration. With my younger daughter still at home, I continued working part time at Elon Elementary as the first English Instructor in the 2nd & 3rd grade SPLASH! Program, (AKA: Spanish Immersion Program). In 2016 I joined the awesome staff at Elon Elementary full time as a first grade teacher.
In 2017 I moved into the instructional support position for our English Learners (ELs) as the K-5 ESL Teacher. I earned my masters in ESL from Meredith College in 2000 and achieved National Board Certification in English as a New Language in 2003. I am currently in my third year as the ESL teacher at Elon; however, this is my ninth year teaching ESL in total. I worked as an ESL teacher for six years in Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). In WCPSS I also taught for five years as a 2nd and 3rd grade elementary school classroom teacher. Prior to taking leave in 2007 to raise my daughters, I taught K-2 literacy in WCPSS Title 1 Program as I am also certified to teach K-12 NC Reading.
I am passionate about teaching students in our public schools. I know quality public education is essential for the economic development of any county. I want our students to learn, travel and explore, and then return home to work and raise a family in our community. My husband, Robert, brought me to Alamance County nearly 13 years ago. I grew up in Northern Virginia, went to ECU, and then lived in Raleigh for 12 years. Robert attended South Graham Elementary, Turrentine Middle, and Western High School, all ABSS schools. This community is full of incredible people and resources and I enjoy working with our students and families to make the best experiences for our students in ABSS.
I love to write. I enjoy painting, reading, and cooking. I also enjoy music and dance. I pray daily for the best for our children and the health of our community. I attend Blessed Sacrament Church in Graham. I never pass up downtime time or adventures with my husband, two daughters, and our dog Penny.
Thank you for stopping by!
