Welcome to the Woodlawn Counselor Webpage!Mike Kane & Crystal TaylorBoth counselors are available and willing to help all students, but Mr. Kane works mainly with those whose surnames start with "A" - "K", Room 306, while Ms. Taylor works with students whose last name ends in "L" - "Z",Room 307.Both work Mon-Fri at Woodlawn, and are available by phone or appointment from 7:45 to 4:00. We are rarely in our offices, so please leave a message when you call. We return calls within 24-hrs unless off campus for extended periods.Email is usually the best way to get in contact with either of us.
Ms. Taylor along with Mr. Kane, work with other professionals in the building as part of the Student Support Team, supporting students' success each and every day. Our focus is on assisting students to meet the career, academic, and personal/social challenges associated with being a middle school student. The Student Support Services Team's role includes serving as advocate, coordinator, consultant, and liaison between school, home, and the community. Student support staff influence school policies and work to create system change.
The team includes the school nurse, school social worker, school counselor(s), prevention specialist, and high school drop out prevention specialist. The school psychologist also works closely with the team.
The goal of the Student Support Staff in the Alamance-Burlington School System is to assist our schools in helping students to have positive school experiences by reducing barriers academically, emotionally, and physically.
