•  Welcome to the Principal's Webpage!

If you are new to our area, we hope you will visit our school.  Pleasant Grove Elementary is a lovely, rural school with a rich history that dates back to 1928. Many of our students have relatives who also attended Pleasant Grove. We are a small school, with less than 300 absolutely wonderful students!
Though not from Alamance County, I spent three years as the Assistant Principal at Altamahaw-Ossipee (A.O.) Elementary School in Elon. Prior to joining the staff at A.O., I spent twenty years as a classroom teacher in the Guilford County School System and six years as a Curriculum Facilitator, also in Guilford County. My entire career has been spent working with children and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

At Pleasant Grove we strive to create an atmosphere that promotes learning and where children feel welcome and safe. All students participate attend art, music, physical education, media, computer and STEM classes weekly. Additional staff positions include: AIG, ESL, EC, Interventionist, Academic Coach, Counselor, Social Worker, and Nurse. Insturction is based on the Common Core. The curriculum is conceptually based and requires students to understand, reflect and synthesize information. The ultimate goal is for students to take ownership for their learning and enhance their understanding by applying skills learned across all content areas.

Research supports that children experience greatest success when parents and teachers work together. We want all of our parents to take an active role in their child’s education by attending parent teacher conferences, reviewing their child’s planner daily, and making sure their child comes to school each day rested, prepared to learn and with homework assignments completed. Showing an interest in your child’s school work and activities sends the message to your child that school is important.

It is wonderful going to work every day where the staff is committed to educating the whole child – socially, emotionally and academically in a loving, supportive environment.
