All schedules changes are complete.  We look forward to working with your family this semester.

This is just a reminder about the new visitor guidelines that are now in place at all ABSS schools. Please remember that every visitor must present his or her valid driver’s license in our school office in order to obtain a visitor badge. If you don’t have your driver’s license with you, the front desk receptionist will ask you for specific demographic information about your child in order to print a visitor badge. Please remember that you must check out at the front office when you are ready to leave school. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we all get used to these new safety and security procedures.

Please come out and support our Patriots this week:
Tue. 1/29--Indoor Track away; All Basketball Teams play at HOME vs. Asheboro starting at 4

This is an important message from Alamance-Burlington Schools regarding updates coming soon to our school visitor guidelines.  In our district’s ongoing efforts to enhance school safety and security, by February 1, all schools will begin implementing new guidelines to our school visitor check-in procedures. Your child will be bringing home information about the new procedures and all schools have details regarding the changes posted in the front office. Information is also available on each school website and on the district website.

By February 1, schools will begin using a new feature of the well-known Ident-a-Kid visitor management system that will require every visitor to the school to present a valid ID in order to obtain a visitor badge. Each visitor will scan his or her valid driver’s license at the Ident-a-Kid station in the school’s front office and receive a printed visitor badge with photo.

Our front office staff members at each school are trained and ready to assist all visitors with the new process.  We would appreciate your patience and understanding while everyone gets used to the new check-in and checkout procedures for all visitors to our schools.  It may take a few extra moments to complete the process on your first visit or two., but please know that the added measures we are putting in place will enhance school security and the safety of our students and our staff members. Thank you for your support. Have a great evening.

All exams will start at 8:15am sharp.

We will host an Open House for the second semester on Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 4:30--6:00.  This will give everyone a chance to meet the teachers and walk their schedule.  This is a floating event with no program planned.  Please contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.

--------------

Thursday's exams will be all History classes in the morning and 4th block CTE exams in the afternoon.  Remember, we will NOT release students until all testing is complete.  We should be ready to release students around 11:30 on Thursday.  If your student has missed an exam, please contact the office so that we can make sure it is rescheduled.

---------------

Wednesday exams will be all Science classes in the morning and 3rd Block CTE exams in the afternoon.  Remember we can not call students out of class until the building is finished testing.

!!! This is an important message regarding student grades and report cards.  Before the 2018-2019 school year began, all school districts in North Carolina were instructed to implement a new grade scale for calculating student grades. During first semester, an ABSS teacher discovered an issue with the calculation for rounding grades with the new grade scale and ABSS notified NCDPI. To resolve the statewide issue, a recalculation of all grade books for the first and second nine weeks (Q1 and Q2) is necessary.  All student grade corrections will be completed before report cards are generated.  Not all student grades were affected; however, some students may notice a change in their final class grade after the rounding correction. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.   Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

-----------

Tuesday exams will be all English Classes starting at 8:15.  The afternoon exams will be 2nd Block CTE classes.  Remember that we can NOT get students out of class for dismissal if the building is still testing.  Morning students will be dismissed by 12:00 if they do not have an afternoon exam.  Students who are taking an afternoon exam need to be at school by 12:30.  Exams start in the afternoon at 12:45.

Winter sports pictures are on Wednesday, January 16.  Coaches have the schedule and order forms.  Money is due when pictures are taken and there are no make ups.  This is the team picture for the yearbook.

The deadline to order a yearbook with your name stamped on it is January 21.  If you wish to purchase a personalized yearbook, you may order online at www.yearbookforever.com or you may purchase from Ms. Bare in C-1.  If you purchase at school, we can only accept check, money order or cash.  If you have questions about yearbooks, please contact Ms. Bare.

------------

Here's an update on exams for Monday, January 14.  With tomorrow being on a 2-hour delay with an option to close, we will run our math exams starting at 10:45. Brunch will be served from 10:00 to 10:40.  Then every student should be at the testing sites by 10:45.  No one will be allowed to enter the exam once it is started.  Remember that all cell phones will be taken up prior to the exam and no one will be excused until exams are complete.

The Block 1 CTE exams will now be rescheduled for Friday morning, January 18.  If the district decides to close and we are on a regular schedule on Tuesday, then our Math exams and CTE 1st Block exams will take place on Tuesday.  Someone will be in the office by 8 to answer any questions tomorrow morning.  Students that do not have a math class are not required to attend school tomorrow.
