A letter from Dr. Benson will be sent out on Monday.  The letter talks about grading options for grades 9-11, graduation, and grading from Seniors.  If your address has changed, please contact the office as important information is being sent home.

Seniors, please have patience while we deliver your signs.  It is a slow process but we will get to everyone.  If your address has changed please call the office.

If your student has any medication at school, please make arrangements to come and get it from the office.

4/26/20

I know everyone wants to come back to school and we would love for everyone to be back at school but the governor has now closed our schools.  I also know that everyone has heard about the new grading adjustments.  Dr. Benson, our superintendent, will be sending a letter to everyone explaining how we will be handling grading.  I encourage everyone to keep working hard on your assignments because it does matter for whatever you will be doing next year.  This could cause you to be required to do remediation whether you are going to college or returning to Southern.

I need to apologize to the Seniors.  The letter that you received with your report card has an error in it.  I missed changing one of the mascots names.  The district created a template for us to use by changing our mascots so everyone would receive the same message.  Again, I sincerely apologize for this mistake.

Administration will begin delivering our senior surprises tomorrow.  This will take us a lot of time to deliver to 383 seniors so please be patient.

On Monday night, the stadium lights will again be turned on at 8:00 pm for 20 minutes.  We are asking that everyone turn their porch lights on as well in honor of all our seniors.  Seniors can come by the school to see the lights but should not get out of their cars.

Yearbooks are still on sale through April 30.  You can purchase one for $90 at yearbookforever.com

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office between the hours of 7:30 and 3:30 Monday through Friday.  Thanks for your continued support and Good Night.

4/19/20

I hope you enjoyed your spring break while social distancing.  We miss having everyone being on campus! We will get through this.  SA All Day!

Yearbooks are still on sale!  The sale has been extended to April 30.  There are only 100 copies left for purchase.  The cost is $90 and you can purchase your yearbook online at yearbookforever.com.  Once the sale ends, a waiting list will be established and books purchased from the waiting list will cost $100.

Per the state mandate, the grade for the third nine weeks can only be though March 13 (the last day students were in school).  Teachers used the grades collected from March 16 through April 3 in the third nine weeks if the grades improved their overall average. You may see changes in Powerschool for the fourth nine weeks due to state guidelines. This final nine weeks our teachers will remain focused on the critical standards of instruction to prepare for graduation or next school year.  We will continue to assess learning in order to be prepared for whatever happens between now and the end of school.  If you have any questions, please contact the office during our office hours of 7:30-3:30 Monday-Friday.

We are here if you need anything, please give us a call.  Thanks for your continued support and Good Night.

3/22/20

I know that we are uncharted waters.  It is essential that students work online during the day and complete assignments on time.  This is how they will receive grades for now.  Students should be working with their teachers during the time that the class would be meeting. Please check your teachers website or the online platform they are using for their class.  If you have any problems with technology or deadlines, you should be communicating with your teacher or the office. If your child needs something out of the classroom, they can come to school and we will escort them to the room. The office is open from 7:30 to 3:30 starting Monday.  The nine weeks will end of April 3 instead of March 26.

On Friday, March 27 (which was listed as a teacher workday) will be a regular day that students need to be online working.

There has been no decision to cancel Prom or graduation.

Registration for next year's courses will continue remotely.  Administration and Counselors will be contacting students who have not already registered to provide assistance.

Please check our website or the ABSS website for information about lunches that are being provided and delivered. Call the office if you have questions.

Seniors, the senior materials have arrived and are at the NC GRADUATE SERVICES office.  Due to being out of school, they will be distributing materials for us on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 at this office. You will need your order number and your balance when making the payment.  In the light of safety, Herff Jones would like to avoid contact with cash money so they would like for you to make payments online.  This also allows you to provide a name then grab and go with your order.  The office phone number is 336.228.7770 or  you can text 336-213-8668.  You can visit their webiste at www.highschool.herffjones.com  The office address:  NC GRADUATE SERVICES – 1031 Chapel Hill Road – Burlington, NC. 27215

Please let us know if you need any assistance from us.  Thanks for your continued support and Good Night.

If your child does not have a device at home and/or internet connectivity, then we are prepared to deploy devices and provide information to support your student beginning Monday, March 16th at 9:30 am.  Students should report to the Media Center to pick up a device. Our goal is to continue the learning process so our students are prepared to earn their high school credits. If you cannot come to pick up the device for your student tomorrow, we will still have availability for pick-up in our front office during the hours of 7:45 and 4:00.

Students taking ACC classes need to make sure that you are keeping up with your deadlines in order to receive credit.

2019 Fall Class Schedules

(July 8, 2019) Good Evening Patriot Families, This is Teresa Faucette calling with some information concerning schedules.  I know that everyone can view their schedules but they are probably not correct.  There is a lot of work to be done in balancing course numbers, moving courses to different blocks and making sure everyone is in the right course.  PowerSchool has been down since June 27 and the district has not given permission for us to start making any changes.  Please DO NOT call, text or email about schedule changes until August.  I will be sending out a ConnectEd call on when we will meet with students for possible schedule changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work on the master schedule.

If you have registered for ACC courses and have your confirmed registration sheet, we do need a copy of that ASAP so that we can adjust your schedule when it becomes live.

We will be offering Criminal Justice classes again this school year in partnership with Alamance Community College. These classes are taught on Southern's campus and tuition and books are paid for by our school district.  If students take the class both semesters they have the opportunity to earn a certificate in Criminal Justice Technology. Any rising junior or senior interested in signing up for Criminal Justice should email Ms. Davis in Student Services. Her email address is kimberlys_davis@abss.k12.nc.us.

This is a reminder that Summer School starts next week on Tuesday, July 16th. If your student returned a summer school form they are registered.  Summer School is 8:30am-2:30pm. (Lunch will be served.) Students that miss more than 2 days of summer school WILL be dropped.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office.  Thanks for your continued support and Good Night.

(July 8, 2019) Good evening, this is an important message for all Alamance-Burlington Schools parents...  ABSS is pleased to introduce a new online student enrollment process for the 2019-2020 school year. The online process will eliminate all of the paper forms that parents usually receive to fill out at back to school time. Instead, parents can use any device with internet connectivity such as a cellphone, tablet, laptop or computer to complete the online forms. This week, parents will receive an email with easy instructions on how to get started--you can go ahead and complete the process before school begins.

If you don’t have internet access at home, you can visit the ABSS Central Administrative Office at 1712 Vaughn Road in Burlington during regular office hours or any branch of the Alamance County Public Libraries this summer to use a computer to complete the enrollment process. Or, call your child’s school to schedule time to use a computer there.

Please check your email this week for instructions and go ahead and complete the online forms now before school begins. We hope your family is enjoying a great summer. Thank you.

summ_office_hrs Summer office hours are from 7:30-5:00 Monday-Thursday.

The office will be closed the week of July 1. The office will be open again on Monday, July 8. Follow this link for summer counseling office hours.

I hope everyone has a safe and restful summer. Stay Cool and Good Night.
