Backpack program gets food donation By Jessica Williams, The Times-News 3/14/19 Reprinted with permission.
Lowe’s Home Improvement’s donation should cover the needs of the Backpack Food Program through the end of the school year.
Holt Elementary School, N.C. 62 at Bellemont-Alamance Road, south of Alamance received $700 worth of food donated by Lowe’s Home Improvement to the school PTO’s Backpack Food Program. The program sends food home for about 30 kids a week, Chair Kim Sulecki said. “Children rely on us to cover their weekend nutrition,” Sulecki said. “A lot of these children have no offering on the weekends, so that bag of food that that goes home weekly is what they depend on.” Lowe’s donation of rice, crackers, juice, cheese, raisins, pudding, canned chicken and toaster pastries should cover the program's needs through the end of the school year, Sulecki said.
